CBA, ASB, BofA join consortium for AI commerce rules
Their next step is to detail how the principles can be implemented.
The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) and other financial institutions have jointly published a shared set of principles for agentic commerce and AI agents.
Together with ASB Bank, Bank of America, Capital One, ING Group, and NatWest Group, CBA aims to establish a framework tied to AI agents being used by people to choose and pay for products and services.
The principles are reportedly designed to support the responsible development of agentic commerce, CBA said in a statement on 23 September 2026. It aims to provide a foundation for further discussion on agentic commerce.
The consortium’s next step is to detail in a subsequent paper how the principles can be implemented, CBA said.
“Working collaboratively across the ecosystem will be essential to building a safe, trusted and sustainable ecosystem as agentic commerce develops,” said Ethan Teas, executive general manager payments at CBA.
