DBS adds extra toggle when adding cards to mobile wallets

This creates a “deliberate pause” for users to verify their intention, the bank said.

DBS Bank has added an extra toggle for customers adding their DBS/POSB cards to their mobile wallets as part of its efforts to combat the rise of phishing.

Beginning mid-May 2025, customers will not be able to add their DBS/POSB cards to their mobile wallets until they turn on the new “mobile wallets” toggle in payment controls.

This feature is turned off by default. Customers will first need to turn on the toggle before adding their cards.

DBS said that this creates a “deliberate pause” in the process, and said that it will allow users to verify their intention to add their card to ta mobile wallet.

DBS has also observed a rise in mobile wallet phishing incidents, where scammers target customers’ cards to add to their mobile wallet for subsequent unauthorised transactions, said Calving Ong, head of consumer banking Singapore, DBS.

“By introducing the deliberate pause, we enable customers to be alert when performing transactions,” Ong said.
