Standard Chartered accelerating gen AI, data training for workforce

Over 15% of SC’s Singapore-based employees have undergone AI programme courses.

Standard Chartered (SC) is accelerating training in the areas of generative artificial intelligence (gen AI) and data amongst its workforce in Singapore and globally.

The bank has invested more than S$4.5b to create different training programmes and initiatives with the goal of helping its employees “work faster, better, and smarter,” according to a press release on 13 October 2025.

Amongst the investments include a on-stop AI Learning Hub launched last November 2024, which offers a foundational AI literacy course accredited by the Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF).

Over 15% of SC’s Singapore-based employees have undergone one or more of the AI programmes on offer, the bank said.

The bank has also launched its own gen AI tool SC GPT in March of 2025, including Singapore.
