Beyond Banking: HSBC Indonesia’s winning formula for wealth and growth
HSBC Indonesia won International Retail Bank of the Year - Indonesia for a third straight year, honouring its wealth expertise, digital growth, and innovation.
HSBC Indonesia has been named as the International Retail Bank of the Year - Indonesia at the Asian Banking & Finance Retail Banking Awards 2026, which was announced in July 2026, securing the award for the third consecutive year. The bank’s winning formula for going beyond banking: combining trusted advice, distinctive lifestyle propositions, digital capability, and innovation to create lasting customer value.
Wealth leadership with a customer-first mindset
Wealth management is one of HSBC Indonesia’s key strengths in the market. As per December 2025, the bank’s Investment division’s (under its International Wealth and Premier Banking business) Assets-under-Management grew by 60% year-on-year, whilst the revenue increased by 15%. Its insurance business also experienced strong growth, with Annualized Net Premium rising by approximately 15% and Sales Commission increasing by 24%.
These results were supported by a continued focus on solutions that respond to customers’ changing priorities. Premier Heritage Assurance (PRHA), as an example, developed with Allianz Indonesia, was introduced in late 2025 to meet growing demand for structured legacy planning. The product gives policyholders the flexibility to receive benefits such as either a lump sum or a regular income, supporting family, offering protection, and securing intergenerational planning needs.
HSBC Indonesia also strengthened its advisory role through relationship-led wealth planning, financial health checks and ongoing investment in relationship manager capabilities. “This combination of people, products and expertise enables the bank to provide advice that is more personal, holistic, and relevant to customers’ financial goals,” said Lanny Hendra, International Wealth and Premier Banking Director, HSBC Indonesia.
Digital as a driver of business growth
For HSBC Indonesia, digital is not simply a channel for servicing customers. It is a growth engine for business.
As of December 2025, more than 60% of customers are digitally registered, whilst mobile banking adoption increased by 26%, and transaction volumes via mobile rose by approximately 40% year on year. The impact is visible in business performance: mobile wealth transactions increased by almost 20%, digital mutual fund sales grew by more than 200% from January to December 2025, and monthly engagement amongst Premier customers rose by more than 15%.
By bringing banking, investment, and protection capabilities together in one digital ecosystem, HSBC Indonesia is making wealth management more accessible and embedded in customers’ everyday lives.
Innovation woven into every experience
Innovation is not treated as a standalone initiative at HSBC Indonesia. It is part of how the bank develops products, shares insights, and engages customers.
Research such as Quality of Life, the Affluent Investor Snapshot (released in July 2025) 2025 and The Rise of Multi Retirements (issued in October 2025) has helped HSBC translate changing customer behaviours into practical wealth conversations. These insights have been brought to life through engaging formats such as HSBC Lights (Life & Insights), immersive market outlook experiences and bite-sized digital content.
The bank has also reimagined physical engagement by launching two Wealth Centers in Jakarta and another one in Surabaya. The centres move beyond traditional branch banking to create spaces for advice, community and distinctive customer experiences.
HSBC Premier’s lifestyle ecosystem adds another dimension, with partnerships including Plaza Indonesia in Jakarta, and All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan's largest airline. The 2026 January chapter of HSBC-ANA Travel Fair generated a record-breaking 44% customer spending jump compared to the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, the bank’s flagship partnership in 2025 with Plaza Indonesia has yielded 138% total merchant spending growth and a 54% increase in new spenders.
Together, these achievements show why HSBC Indonesia’s award-winning performance is sustainable. By going beyond banking through wealth leadership, digital growth, lifestyle relevance, and innovation, HSBC continues to raise the standard for retail banking in Indonesia.
