DBS rolls out ‘tap-to-phone’ payments at MAX app
Stall merchants will be able to activate the service in three steps, the bank said.
DBS has rolled out a “tap-to-phone” feature in Singapore, enabling businesses to accept credit and debit card payments through their smartphones.
Available through the DBS MAX app, the service allows customers to simply tap their physical and contactless card on a merchant’s phone to pay.
Apple Pay, Google Wallet, Samsung Wallet, and other popular NFC-based payment systems are accepted, DBS said.
DBS promises a simplified set-up process, with stall merchants able to activate the service in three steps.
With this tap-to-phone feature, DBS now offers a full suite of digital payment solutions to merchants—including contactless cards and QR code payments—in a single application.
“With ‘tap-to-phone’, we are thrilled to add a new collection mode to the DBS MAX app. Businesses can transact in a more efficient and cost-effective manner and scale confidently to capture new opportunities,” said Tesy Mathew, group head of cash management product, global transaction services at DBS.
Tourism receipts in Singapore topped S$23.9b in the first nine months of 2025, according to the Singapore Tourism Board.
