SeABank unveils sustainable finance framework

The bank’s green credit has risen 150% year-to-date.

Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank) has announced its sustainable finance framework.

The framework sets a minimum 20% performance improvement in energy savings, emission reduction, or water efficiency.

The Vietnam-based bank said it will support eligible projects across 14 categories (40-45%), 7 blue categories (10-15%) and 5 social objectives (40-45%). SeABank did not specify the specific categories in its 29 October 2026 announcement.

SeABank said that its framework aligns with six international principles and guidelines issued by the International Capital Market Association, Loan Market Association, Asia Pacific Loan Market Association, Loan Syndications and Trading Association, and International Finance Corporation.

SeABank’s outstanding green credit has exceeded VND4.1t as of September 2026, up over 150% from end-2025, the bank said.

SeABank said it has mobilised nearly $1.1b from international institutions including the IFC, AIIC, Norfund, and Proparco, amongst others.

By 2030, SeABank targets green credit at 5% of total outstanding loans alongside a 10% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions against its baseline year.
