MUFG Emut Bank clinches banking license
It will begin offering services sometimes around January to March 2027, MUFG Bank said.
MUFG Bank’s digital bank subsidiary has clinched a banking license and rebranded to MUFG Emut Bank.
MUFG Emut Bank is scheduled to begin offering services to customers around January to March 2027 under the name Emut Bank, accroding to a statement published on 24 September 2026.
Emut, formerly known as MU Digital Bank Establishment Preparation Co., Ltd., was first launched in June 2025 as a core commercial bank subsidiary of MUFG Bank. MUFG Bank owns 100% of Emut’s shareholding.
Emut Bank has a capital of $300.06m (JPY47.45b), with Kunihiro Yamashita as its CEO.
MUFG said that it will strive to further enhance the profitability of Emut through the launch of the digital bank.
