Citi to bank foreign firms investing in Thailand

Citi said it will facilitate cross-border transactions through trade finance, FX, and treasury.

Citi is collaborating with Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOU) to provide financial solutions to multinational corporations (MNCs) setting up operations in Thailand.

Citi said it will facilitate cross-border transactions through trade finance, foreign exchange, and treasury solutions.

It will also provide domestic banking solutions such as working capital, liquidity management, and cash management services, Citi said in a joint statement with the Thailand BOI.

The partnership aims to connect high-quality investors to targeted industries in Thailand, the statement said.

Citi will also partner with Thailand BOI’s overseas offices to organise roadshows and attract foreign direct investment (FDI) into Thailand, the bank said.

“The collaboration with Citi Thailand will strengthen Thailand's ability to attract foreign direct investment across strategic industries, including biotechnology, automotive, semiconductor and advanced electronics, digital, aerospace, humanoid robot, and renewable energy,” said Narit Therdsteerasukdi, secretary general, Thailand BOI.

The BOI Reported a 37% growth in investment submissions into Thailand in the first six months of 2026.

The enhanced collaboration with the BOI will work to accelerate and attract investment into Thailand’s national priority sectors, including the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem and the digital economy, said Narumon Chivangkur, Citi Country Officer and Banking Head, Citi Thailand.
