BSP bars five unlicensed money changers from registration

They cannot register to operate as a money service business.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) monetary board disqualified five entities from registering to operate as a money service business.

The five entities operate as money changing service businesses without prior registration to the central bank.

These are Shara-P Money Changing Services (Makati, Metro Manila), Downtown Money Changer (Santa Rita, Pampanga), Ponio Money Changing Services (Lubao, Pampanga), Jamelah-Arham Gift Shop or Jamelah-Arham Money Changer (Davao, Davao del Sur), and JNJ Money Changing Services (Makati, Metro Manila).

The disqualification extends to sole proprietorships owned or controlled by the owners of the five businesses, the BSP announced on 26 October 2026.

BSP said that the disqualification is part of its efforts to “protect financial consumers and safeguard the stability of the country’s financial system.”
