Citi names BofA veteran Sophia Wang as head of China FI sales & SRM

Wang is tasked with leading Citi’s institutional sales coverage in the region.

Citi announced Sophia Wang as its new managing director, head of China financial institutional sales & senior relationship management, starting 15 September 2026.

Wang will be based in Shanghai, where she is tasked with leading Citi’s institutional sales coverage across rates, spread products, foreign exchange, commodities, and equity derivatives.

In her role as Head of China SRM, Wang is expected to manage Citi’s relationships with key local financial institutions, as well as global SRM clients looking to access China's markets.

Prior to joining Citi, Wang spent 15 years in Bank of America Merrill Lynch is London as a managing director within Global FICC sales, where she specifically led the EMEA coverage for sovereign wealth funds and major Chinese financial institutions.

She also worked at Standard Chartered Bank for seven years, where her roles spanned multi-asset coverage and liquidity management in debt capital markets and group treasury.
