BEA signs UN responsible banking pact

The principles are supported by over 360 banks globally.

The Bank of East Asia (BEA) has become a signatory of the UN Principles for Responsible Banking, the first Hong Kong-headquartered bank to do so.

The principles are a single framework for a sustainable banking industry, developed in collaboration between banks worldwide and the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI).

The principles are supported by over 360 banks worldwide, representing 50% of global banking assets, BEA said in a press release published on 29 January 2026.

As a signatory, BEA is committed to identifying and measuring the environmental and social impacts resulting from its business activities, setting related targets, and regularly reporting publicly on its progress, it said.
