UOB takes home four wins at Asian Banking & Finance Retail Banking Awards 2026

The bank scaled its ASEAN franchise whilst integrating AI, enhanced security, and refreshed card propositions.

UOB emerged triumphant at the Asian Banking & Finance Retail Banking Awards 2026 with four major accolades for successfully integrating Citigroup’s consumer businesses in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. Leveraging the bank’s regional ASEAN connectivity, UOB has achieved significant progress in scaling the retail franchise across Emerging Affluent and Affluent segments, and delivering value to customers through cross-border banking, payments, wealth, and lifestyle propositions.

UOB has deepened customer engagement with CASA penetration exceeding Corporate Day targets in 2025 and increased wealth penetration. UOB has also reinforced its position as a leading regional card issuer, recording an increase in gross card fees. Beyond banking, UOB curated distinctive lifestyle experiences that align with customers’ passion points across travel, dining, and entertainment. Through UOB’s strategic, first-of-its-kind partnerships, customers have priority access to highly sought-after experiences and exclusive privileges across the region.

With rising affluence across the region, UOB is well-positioned to support customers’ wealth needs through the bank’s holistic One Bank model, advisory excellence, and integrated digital wealth solutions. In 2025, the expansion of UOB TMRW digital wealth into Indonesia and Malaysia enabled clients across markets to access more than 100 funds and manage their portfolios end-to-end on a single platform. Digital channels account for one in two new to wealth clients, whilst UOB TMRW contributed 63% of total wealth transactions. In Wealth and Privilege Banking, CIO-anchored insights and data-driven advisory tools enhanced client engagement and supported portfolio resilience amidst market volatility.

In driving customer centricity, UOB is committed to delivering smarter, safer, and personalised experiences. With the launch of the UOB TMRW app in Vietnam, this marks a major step toward a unified regional digital banking platform. Through the UOB TMRW app, the bank leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to deepen customer digital interactions, deliver real-time, predictive insights, whilst strengthening security. One in two customers interact with the customised insights and nudges. Leveraging UOB’s regional connectivity and AI-powered merchant recommender model, customers access country-specific offers on Rewards+ based on their travel location and preferences.

Safeguarding customers remains a priority. Amidst rising malware scams and cybersecurity threats, UOB has enhanced security features, including real-time fraud surveillance to safeguard customers’ transactions, an industry-first measure to block unauthorised remote devices access by scammers and the replacement of SMS One-time Passwords with digital token authentication.

To deliver personalisation at scale, UOB has harnessed GenAI capabilities to deliver personalised customer experiences. Productivity tools, such as the GenAI chatbot, have enhanced client servicing by helping bankers to quickly retrieve wealth advisory updates. Through these AI-powered tools, the bank has seen an uplift in overall productivity.

UOB also empowers customers to enjoy seamless cross-border experiences by harnessing its extensive ASEAN network. It has become the first local financial institution to pioneer a borderless rewards ecosystem, enabling Singapore customers to instantly redeem rewards points when spending in Johor and strengthening Malaysia-Singapore consumer connectivity. This success complements its refreshed suite of propositions, including its card offerings.

Innovation around customer experiences

Amongst UOB’s award-winning cards is the KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card (“KFCC”), which was originally launched in 2019 in partnership with flag carrier Singapore Airlines. KFCC is designed to make earning and redeeming travel rewards simpler and more rewarding, targeting consumers who value travel.

KFCC rewards both everyday and travel-related spending with accelerated, uncapped miles across categories such as dining, online shopping, online travel, transport, and Singapore Airlines ecosystem purchases, whilst also offering additional benefits like welcome and renewal bonus miles, fast-track KrisFlyer Elite Silver status, and various lifestyle privileges.

KFCC has delivered strong business results, serving as a major contributor to UOB’s customer acquisition leadership in 2025 and increasing adoption of related products such as the KrisFlyer UOB Deposit Account. Cardholders also demonstrate higher spending levels than users of other miles cards.

Meanwhile, the UOB FX+ Debit Card is a multi-currency debit card designed to meet the growing needs of travellers and globally connected consumers by offering a seamless combination of foreign currency spending, currency conversion, and savings capabilities. Originally launched as UOB Mighty FX, the card has quickly gained popularity due to its customer-centric features and competitive FX offerings.

Through UOB TMRW, users can convert and hold up to ten major currencies, set exchange rate alerts, automate conversions at preferred rates, and store foreign currencies for future spending or investment opportunities with this debit card. Customers can also place foreign currency fixed deposits, invest in unit trusts, and enjoy cashback on overseas ATM withdrawals.

Following the rebrand, monthly new card issuance has increased, whilst the removal of foreign currency fees has also contributed to a rise in average monthly foreign currency spending. Foreign currency conversion volumes have also grown year-on-year, reflecting strong customer adoption of the card’s currency management features.

Another one of UOB’s pioneering offerings is the UOB EVOL Card, which provides enhanced benefits informed by extensive research on Gen Z consumers and evolving spending trends, with the goal of becoming the preferred credit card for first-jobbers and young adults. It offers 10% cashback on local mobile contactless and online spending, and provides 10% cashback on selected gym memberships, telco bills, and popular streaming services, reflecting the digital lifestyles and spending habits of younger consumers. What’s more, cardmembers now enjoy no card annual fees with no minimum spend as well.

The UOB EVOL Card has also introduced zero FX fees worldwide with no minimum spend requirement or cap on FX spend eligible to enjoy this 0% FX fee benefit, allowing cardholders to spend overseas without worrying about conversion rates or additional fees. Addressing fee sensitivity amongst younger consumers, the card also charges no annual fee as long as cardholders make at least three purchases per month. In addition, from now till 31 December 2026, UOB EVOL Cardmembers can enjoy 0.5% cashback on FX spend in China and Europe as well as 1% cashback on FX spend in other countries, all with no minimum spend and cashback cap, making this the Best Cashback Card for Travel.

Since the relaunch, the card has delivered strong market performance, as recorded in the increase in new card acquisitions, strong year-on-year overseas spending, and FX billings outperforming the market post-refresh. The card has also gained market share steadily within the first-jobber segment.

These remarkable achievements have earned UOB the Domestic Retail Bank of the Year - Singapore title in the awards programme, with the KFCC, UOB FX+ Debit Card, and UOB EVOL Card also winning the Credit Card Initiative of the Year - Singapore, Debit Card Initiative of the Year - Singapore, and the Gen Z Product of the Year - Singapore categories, respectively.

“Best Cashback Card for Travel” is on the basis that this card gives the highest amount of cashback a cardmember can enjoy on their overseas FX card spend with no min spend and cap, in comparison to other major banks' cashback cards, which also offer no FX fees and a similar cashback qualification criteria, across Singapore, as of 26 Mar 2026.
