BSP signs MOA to close FDI data gaps between bank and firm records
The BSP will compile official statistics using shared corporate-level information from the SEC.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to address gaps in foreign direct investment (FDI) data.
It specifically addresses gaps between bank-reported data and enterprise-based information, the BSP said. The BSP will compile official FDI statistics using shared corporate-level information from the SEC.
The PSA, meanwhile, will serve as the central repository of FDI-related data.
The agreement aims to strengthen interagency sharing of FDI data, the central bank said.
The arrangement will improve the identification and coverage of foreign-invested enterprises by providing greater access to relevant corporate records, including those not captured through traditional sources, the announcement said.
