TMBThanachart seen hiking dividends after early buyback completion
The bank still has THB14b budget remaining for share buybacks to 2028, said UOBKH.
TMBThanachart Bank is expected to increase its dividend payout now that it is done with share buybacks, according to UOB Kay Hian.
The Thailand-based bank’s chief said that the bank has completed its share buyback with a budget of $621.3m (THB21b), one year ahead of schedule.
The bank still has a $414.2m (THB14) budget remaining for share buybacks from mid-2026 to 2028, UOBKH estimated.
“In our view, we expect the bank to release capital by increasing its dividend payout or paying out a special dividend in the future,” said UOBKH analyst Thanawat Thangchadakorn and assistant analyst Panjarat Thaweesriprasert.
The bank posted a net profit of THB5.51b in Q2, up 10% year-on-year and 7% quarter-on-quarter, beating UOBKH’s and consensus’ estimates by 6% and 7%, respectively.
