Stablecoin payment growth slows to 23% in 2026
Early data shows business-to-consumer transfers expanding fastest at 28%.
Cross-border payment volumes using stablecoins rose by an estimated 64% year on year in 2025, compared with 9% growth for traditional fiat payments.
Consumer-to-business, or C2B, stablecoin payments recorded the fastest growth at 72%, compared with 7% for fiat payments, according to data from FXC Intelligence and Allium.
Business-to-business, or B2B, stablecoin payments increased by 69%, against 10% for fiat, while business-to-consumer, or B2C, payments grew by 62%, compared with 10% for fiat.
Consumer-to-consumer, or C2C, stablecoin payments increased by 44%, while their fiat counterparts grew by 7%.
Estimated stablecoin cross-border payment volume totalled $135b, compared with $44.2t for fiat payments.
B2B accounted for $67b in stablecoin transactions, followed by C2B at $29b, C2C at $20b and B2C at $19b.
The higher growth rates partly reflect the smaller starting base for stablecoins compared with fiat payments.
Regulatory developments and increased interest in stablecoins as an alternative payment method have also supported their use, according to the analysis.
Early data for 2026, however, points to slower growth. Year-to-date stablecoin cross-border payment volumes were growing at about 23%, with B2C recording the fastest increase at 28%.
The report said full-year figures could differ because some payment flows are seasonal and the stablecoin market is still developing.
