Morgan Stanley deal pipeline exposed following client email leak: report

A senior Morgan Stanley banker accidentally leaked the bank’s deal pipeline in Asia in an email sent to clients, reports Reuters, citing six sources.

The banker attached the financial sponsors group’s deal pipeline by mistake in a weekly update email he sent to clients, the people said.

The banker later retracted the email and apologised for the mishap, according to a screenshot of the email seen by Reuters.

In an email statement on 24 September, a Morgan Stanley spokesperson said that they took steps to address the information sharing and “continue to engage with relevant parties.”

The list reportedly contained about 60 live IPO, M&A, and block trade deals across Greater China, South Korea, Southeast Asia, India, and the EMEA region.
