Visa and Mesh to enable crypto payments at over 175 million merchants
Wallet holders can pay from crypto balances without selling or preloading funds.
Visa is partnering with crypto payments network Mesh to let consumers spend cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances at more than 175 million merchant locations worldwide.
Under the arrangement, a Visa credential is provisioned behind the scenes, so consumers can tap at a standard contactless terminal or check out online without selling, transferring, or preloading funds, according to a press release.
Merchants receive a standard payment without the need for new hardware or changes to their checkout process.
Mesh will manage how each transaction is funded and converted across supported balances, including crypto, stablecoins, and fiat.
Platforms can offer the service through a single integration with the crypto platform, which will also handle user onboarding and know-your-customer checks.
Global crypto owners reached 774 million as of June 2026, according to research by Crypto.com, yet crypto card volumes were running at only about $1.5b a month by late 2025, Mesh said, citing American Banker.
"Crypto never had a spending problem — it has a last-mile problem, and until now, closing it meant getting a separate card," said Bam Azizi, CEO and co-founder of Mesh.
"Mesh handles the funding and conversion, so a balance becomes purchasing power at the moment of payment, with nothing for the user to move and nothing for the merchant to change,” Azizi added.
Initial availability, supported devices, and participating platforms will be announced as rollout details are finalised, Mesh said.
