SMBC appoints Salim Zaman as global head of FX

Zaman will continue to serve as co-head of global markets and treasury in APAC.

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) has named Salim Zaman as global head of foreign exchange (FX).

Zaman is tasked with leading SMBC’s global FX business, whilst continuing his current role as co-head of global markets and treasury in the Asia Pacific region, according to a press release published on 11 February 2026.

He will oversee the bank’s global FX strategy and is expected to strengthen SMBC’s ability to deliver comprehensive and integrated FX solutions to clients worldwide.

Zaman is based in Singapore.
