Maybank expects to grow along with host countries

Maybank expects its growth pattern to be in tandem along with the countries it operates in.

"The growth prospect for Maybank depends very much on the markets that we're operating, particularly Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. We will remain focused on growing within these countries," said President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar said.

"These are three solid markets with a sound financial system and expected to grow domestically," he told reporters after announcing Maybank's financial result for the first half of this year.

He said Maybank was able to fund various upcoming projects in these countries and this would result in loans and income growing as well.

Maybank said the economies of Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia are expected to have a gross domestic product growth of 5.0 per cent, 3.0 per cent and 6.2 per cent, respectively.
