Which e-wallets did Malaysians use most in 2025?

Convenience remained a key factor in satisfaction with online payments

Touch ’n Go remained the most widely used e-wallet in Malaysia, with 78% of e-wallet users saying they had used it in the past three months.

MAE was the second most used e-wallet at 44%, followed by ShopeePay at 10%. Setel was used by 6% of respondents, whilst GrabPay recorded 4%.

Boost and Lazada were used by 2% and 1% respectively, according to an Ipsos Malaysia survey conducted in May 2025.

The survey found that MAE continued to hold second place despite a decline in usage over the past three months.

Ipsos said the increase in MAE usage was more notable among people aged 35 to 44 and those living in the northern region.

Convenience remained a key factor in user satisfaction with online payments in 2025, although satisfaction with ease of use has declined from the previous year.

The findings were based on a nationally representative sample of 1,034 Malaysians aged 18 to 74.
