MariBank Philippines transitions to a digital bank license

It commenced operations as a digital bank on 18 July.

MariBank Philippines, Inc. has officially transitioned to a digital bank license.

It commenced its operations as a digital bank on 18 July 2026, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) announced in a circular letter published on 22 July.

MariBank Philippines formerly operated under a rural bank license. Prior to its transition, it was the country’s biggest rural bank by assets as of December 2025.

MariBank Philippines is owned by SeaBank Ltd. of Singapore, part of the group linked to Shopee Pte. Ltd.

In a facebook post, the digital bank expressed its thanks to the central bank and told customers that no action is required on their part related to the transition.
