UOB names Tan Choon Hin as head of ASEAN and Greater China
Tan, who is currently UOB’s deputy chief risk officer, will also oversee the FDI advisory unit.
United Overseas Bank (UOB) has appointed Tan Choon Hin as head of ASEAN and Greater China, effective 1 September 2026.
Tan is UOB’s current deputy chief risk officer. He will join the bank’s management executive committee.
Tan is tasked with driving UOB’s regional business, including its fully owned subsidiaries in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and mainland China, as well as its branches in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Tan is expected to work closely with the country CEOs and management teams across these seven markets.
Tan is also tasked with overseeing UOB’s foreign direct investment (FDI) advisory unit. In the past six months, the unit had reportedly supported over 300 cross-border expansion plans, with projected investments of S$5.6b, UOB said.
He brings over 30 years of banking, credit and risk management experience across both ASEAN and Greater China, UOB said.
Tan joined UOB in 2012 as head of group credit (retail) and afterwards became head of group business banking. In 2016 he was appointed chief executive officer of UOB Thailand. He became deputy chief risk officer in 2024.
