CIMB profit dips 0.19% to $955.42m in H1

CIMB expects net interest margin pressures are expected to progressively ease.

CIMB Group Holdings Berhad (CIMB) saw its net profit attributable to owners of the company dip 0.19% year-on-year (YoY) to $955.42m (MYR3.85b) in the first six months of 2026, its latest financial report showed.

For the second quarter, net profit rose 2.62% YoY to $480.29m (MYR1.94b).

Basic earnings per share is 17.94 sen for the Q2 period. All cash first interim dividend is 19.65 sen per share for H1 2026, translating to a total dividend payout of MYR2.1b

For Q2, annualised return on average equity (ROE) is 11.2%, improving 20 basis points (bps) quarter-on-quarter (QoQ).

Total income grew 2.8% QoQ to $1.38b (MYR5.56b), with both net interest income (NII) and non-interest income (NOII) registering growth.

NOII rose 6% QoQ to $453.46m (MYR1.83b), which CIMB said was thanks to higher franchise fees and sustained client sales momentum.

NII edged up 1.3% QoQ to $924.27m (MYR3.73b), with assets growing by 2.2% and loans growing by 1.1% during the period in constant currency terms.

Net interest margin (NIM) contracted 4 bps to 2.04%.

CIMB expects NIM pressures to progressively ease, supported by loan repricing in Indonesia and continued growth in lower-cost deposits across the bank’s markets.
