Citi boosts North Asia & Japan corporate desk headcount by 25%
It is also expanding its dedicated China desk network to Brazil and Europe.
Citi laid out plans to increase its headcount by 25% for its North Asia and Japan corporate banking desk network.
The bank is also adding dedicated bankers in six locations worldwide.
New investment will be directed across South America, Europe and parts of Asia to support activity originating from corporate clients headquartered in Japan, Korea, Mainland China and Taiwan, Citi said.
Separately, Citi announced the expansion of its dedicated China desk network, with new hubs added in Brazil and Europe.
Citi launched a new Korea desk in Chicago, USA earlier in 2026.
The desks are expected to support multinational corporations as they expand outside their home markets, offering banking, markets and services products. Products include financing, foreign exchange and hedging, payments, cash management and trade finance, said Citi.
The move comes as Citi saw strong client growth across a number of corridors connecting markets in North Asia and Japan with global markets, said JianXun Toh, head of corporate banking for Japan, Asia North, and Australia (JANA).
“These investments underline our commitment to clients to invest further to support their growth and expansion,” Toh said.
