ANZ launches tender for new external audit provider
It ends KPMG’s 55-year tenure.
ANZ is commencing a “competitive tender process” to select the next provider of its external audit services.
KPMG has been ANZ Group’s external audit service provider since 1969, a tenure that ANZ said can no longer be considered appropriate, according to an online statement on 30 September 2026.
ANZ intends to conclude the tender process by end-April 2027, and that its new external audit services firm will commence in FY2029.
KPMG will not be eligible to participate in the tender process.
“While both Group Lead Audit Engagement Partner and the Engagement Quality Control Review Partner have been regularly rotated during this time, a tenure of this length is no longer considered appropriate and has been under consideration by the board for some time,” ANZ said in the statement.
Shareholders will be asked to approve the appointment of the successful audit firm at the 2028 Annual General Meeting, ANZ said.
