NATIXIS CIB plans to expand its Tokyo operations by January 2027

Sangyo Sosei Advisory Inc. is set to join the firm in January 2027.

Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking (Natixis CIB) announced its plans to open global Investment Banking & Real Assets (IBRA) and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) capabilities in Tokyo, Japan, on 20 October.

This is subject to the Japan Financial Services Agency’s approval.

As part of its team expansion, the firm agreed to acquire Sangyo Sosei Advisory Inc. (SSA), one of Japan’s leading M&A specialists, to join by 1 January 2027.

Gary Chan, co-founder and managing partner of SSA, will become the head of investment banking, real assets and M&A of the local Natixis CIB.

Kentaro Relnic, managing director at SSA, will assume the role of head of M&A in Japan.

Fumiaki Sato, co-founder and managing partner of SSA, will be appointed executive advisor of Natixis Tokyo Branch.

By synergising SSA’s deep local expertise with its global platform, the bank said it is positioned to deliver forward-looking financial solutions and drive the future of investment banking in Japan.
