China CITIC Bank International names Wang chief executive

Shen Qiang will retain a board seat as a non-executive director.

China CITIC Bank International has appointed Wang Junwei as executive director and CEO.

Wang will replace Shen Qiang, who has resigned from the two roles due to work arrangements. Shen will remain on the bank’s board as a non-executive director.

Shen had served as executive director and chief executive since December 2024.

During his tenure, the bank recorded its highest operating income and net profit, whilst its assets and liabilities increased.

The bank also reported a decline in both its non-performing loan ratio and the volume of non-performing loans.

Wang holds a doctorate in economics and has worked at the bank’s parent company, China CITIC Bank Corporation, for an extended period.

His experience includes corporate governance, capital operations, market capitalisation management, financial management and balance sheet management.

Before joining China CITIC Bank International, Wang was president of China CITIC Bank’s Ningbo branch.

Until Wang’s appointment receives regulatory approval, executive director and deputy chief executive officer Jeffery Bai will take on the related duties. Bai is also head of the bank’s wholesale banking group.
