DBS Remit adds Weixin Pay as transactions surge eightfold
Average ticket sizes have grown to over S$800 since February.
DBS Remit has enabled transfer of funds to Weixin Pay, a Chinese mobile payment service.
Users will be able to do so by verifying their passports to their profiles in the DBS digibank app.
Whilst DBS digibank users are already able to link their credit cards to digital wallets, transactions above certain thresholds may incur additional fees. Funding digital wallets directly through DBS Remit allows users to avoid additional platform transaction fees, the Singaporean bank said in a statement on 6 June.
DBS Remit first enabled transfers to Weixin Pay e-wallets in February 2026. Since launch, the number of customers using DBS Remit to fund their Weixin Pay wallets quadrupled while transactions rose eightfold, it said.
Average ticket sizes have grown to over S$800 since February. DBS said this suggests customer confidence and familiarity with using DBS Remit.
