Vietnam’s NCB launches VietQR Global for Asian tourist payments

It supports payments from China’s Alipay and UnionPay and four other markets.

Vietnam’s National Citizen Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NCB) has introduced a QR payment service enabling tourists to pay using VietQR Global.

VietQR Global supports payments from China’s Alipay and UnionPay, and South Korea’s GLN, Hana Financial Group, and Naver Pay. It also supports payments from Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.

Further expansion is planned for tourists from Japan, Singapore, India, and Malaysia.

The service is available across a network of NCB’s partners, most notably Sun World’s hotels and resorts, as well as Sun PhuQhoc Airways.

To pay, visitors can open their preferred banking or e-wallet app, scan the NCB VietQR code at participating merchants, confirm the payment amount, and authenticate the transaction as usual, NCB said. Payment is processed instantly within the same app.

NCB is a commercial bank in Vietnam.
