Nomura’s international head of M&A joins Citi Japan.

Citi has appointed Hajime Higuchi as head of mergers & acquisitions (M&A) for Japan Investment Banking, and Yoshinobu Agu as head of sponsor coverage for Japan, effective 1 October 2026.

Higuchi joins from Nomura, where he was international head of M&A since 2020 and a member of Nomura’s global investment banking executive committee since 2013. He also previously held investment banking roles at J.P. Morgan Securities and Sanwa Bank.

Agu will lead the coverage of financial sponsors and strategic investors in Japan, including coverage for financial sponsors as well as infrastructure and real estate funds.

Agu joined Citi’s predecessor firm in Japan in 1999 and has held senior client coverage responsibilities across several sectors.
