HDFC Bank Q1 profit rises 4.98% to $1.97b as on interest income growth

Fees and commissions rose to $876m during the period.

HDFC Bank Limited reported a net profit of $1.97b (INR190.6b) for the quarter ending 30 June 2026 (Q1 FY2027), a 4.98% year-on-year (YoY) increase, its latest financial results showed.

Net revenue was $4.8b (INR463.6b) for the quarter, lower by 12.81% YoY against $5.51b (INR531.7b) in Q1 FY2026.

Net interest income grew 6.7% to $3.47b (INR335.3b) in Q1 FY2027, whilst net interest margin (NIM) is 3.26% on total assets and 3.40% based on interest earning assets, the India-based bank said.

Other income was $1.33b (INR128.21b), 41% lower compared to $2.25b (INR217.3b) in Q1 FY2026, as its net trading and mark to market gain in Q1 FY2026 was boosted from the divestment of HDB Financial Services.

Foreign exchange and derivatives revenue was also lower, coming at $134.8m (INR13b) in Q1 FY2027 compared to $160.04m (INR16.3b) in 2026.

Fees and commissions rose to $876.3m (INR84.5b) from INR75.9b a year earlier, and miscellaneous income also climbed to $275.85m (INR26.6b) in Q1 FY2027.

Operating expenses for the quarter is $1.89b (INR181.9b), whilst cost-to-income ratio is 39.2%.
