Westpac partners with Amp Labs to transform tech and digital experiences

US-based Amp builds agents for software engineering.

Westpac has partnered with Amp Frontier Corporation, an artificial intelligence (AI) research lab, to build AI-powered software.

Amp will establish Amp Labs in Australia, a special purpose company with dedicated AI engineers that will work with Westpac to transform the bank’s technology and improve digital experiences in weeks rather than months, Westpac said in an online statement published 7 August 2026.

Amp was founded in San Francisco, USA in 2025. It builds AI agents for software engineering.

"Software engineering is being reshaped by AI, much like the cloud reshaped technology a generation ago. We're investing in skills, talent and capability that will benefit Westpac and contribute to Australia's growing AI ecosystem,” said Andrew McMullan, chief data, digital, and AI officer at Westpac.
