MUFG Bank pilots banking ancilliary firm for content production
The bank is launching Japan Creative Works (TM).
MUFG Bank is launching a proof-of-concept for a banking ancillary company aimed at supporting the production of entertainment content.
The proof of concept is the bank’s first initiative to establish a banking ancillary company under the Financial Services Agency of Japan’s comprehensive guidelines for supervision of major banks, it said in a press statement.
MUFG Bank previously established and invested in a fund designed to expand financing options for the creation of large-scale, globally competitive entertainment content origination from Japan.
MUFG Bank said it will operate a video media program to start.
Japan Creative Works (TM), which launched on 14 August 2026, will be available on the YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram platforms.
The proof of concept will also be used to verify various operational and regulatory requirements consistent with the objectives and framework governing banking ancillary companies, MUFG said.
