Indonesia’s QRIS rises 82.4% versus mobile apps’ 24.3% growth

Overall activity reached $310,000, equivalent to IDR5.50b during the month.

Money transactions using Indonesia's Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) rose about 82.4% year-on-year (YoY) in July 2026, as more people and businesses turned to digital payments, Bank Indonesia said.

Acting Governor Destry Damayanti told a press conference that the growth was driven by a rise in the number of users and merchants accepting the payment system.

Overall digital payment transaction volume reached $310,000 (IDR5.50b ) in July, up 28.69% from a year earlier.

Transaction volumes through internet banking and mobile applications rose 9.39% and 24.25% YoY respectively, supported by wider adoption of digital payment services.

QRIS is already used for cross-border payments in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and China, with expansion to India and the United Arab Emirates in preparation.
