JCB contactless payment launches in Taipei Metro

Contactless payments are now available across four of Taiwan’s major metro systems.

JCB contactless payment is now accepted across all four of Taiwan's major metro systems after the Taipei Metro became the latest network to adopt the payment method, JCB International announced.

The addition joins the Kaohsiung Metro, Taoyuan Metro, Taichung Metro and the Circular Line of New Taipei Metro, allowing JCB cardholders to tap their cards or compatible devices at ticket gates without purchasing tickets or reloading transit cards.

JCB said contactless payment adoption across public transportation systems is growing globally, with transit networks increasingly becoming a key channel for expanding cashless usage amongst both daily commuters and tourists.
