SBI Holdings forms digital asset payments JV with Mesh and Money Forward
The JV aims for seamless asset transfers between crypto exchanges and digital wallets.
SBI Holdings, a Japanese financial services group, is establishing a joint venture (JV) for digital assets and payments with Mesh, a crypto payments network provider, and fintech Money Forward.
The JV aims to develop digital asset connectivity and payments infrastructure in Japan and across the Asia Pacific region, according to a statement on 30 September 2026.
The JV plans to integrate SBI Group’s financial infrastructure, Mesh’s API-based network, and Money Forward’s fintech platform.
Goals include seamless account linking and asset transfers between cryptocurrency exchanges and digital wallets, streamlined purchasing and onboarding for digital assets, and building an infrastructure and payment architecture that supports stablecoin ecosystems.
They also plan to create an infrastructure enabling financial institutions and enterprises to manage tokenised assets and digital payments, and to create next-generation rails that bridge digital assets, regulated stablecoins, and fiat currencies across regional payment networks.
The venture will launch in Q4 2026, with possible expansion across the APAC region.
